This Organizational Leadership Project explores leadership in sustainable development for the City of Medicine Hat‘s Land and Properties Department. The research question is: How can
Land and Properties become a leader in sustainable development in order to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Neighborhood Development certification requirements for its future subdivisions? Working closely with an action learning team, the research explores what leadership in sustainable development might look like for this public sector land developer. Action research in combination with action learning team methodology explores leadership approaches and discovers best practices in sustainable development. The report concludes with a methodology that leverages leadership and organizational change to deliver on a shared vision of sustainable development: one that will make sure that the citizens of Medicine Hat meet their environmental, social and economic needs today while ensuring the needs of their grandchildren for many generations to come.
